Here are the answers to some of the most Frequently Asked Questions our firm receives.

Q. What is certified public accountant?
A. A certified public accountant (CPA) is licensed to practice by the Board of Accountancy. To become licensed as a CPA, certain qualifications must be met. A CPA must have an accounting degree, pass the two-day CPA exam, pass the Ethics exam and have at least one year experience working with another CPA. To maintain the license, the CPA must complete 80 hours of continuing education every two years.


Q. What can you do for me as a tax client?
A. The partners and staff of Jordan, Abella and Company currently includes three CPAs. Our expertise ranges from retail businesses, service businesses, farmers, construction, trucking, medical professionals, car dealerships, manufacturing to oil production. We will work for you while adhering to the rules and regulations of the IRS and state agencies. We are continually looking for ways to legally minimize our client's tax liability and improve their business and financial position.


Q. What do you charge to prepare a tax return?
A. Several factors are considered in determing what we charge for our services. Staff time involved, complexity of the tax issues, accuracy and organization of the client's records and the number of tax forms required are the main factors. Every client has a unique tax situation. We do not simply fill in the forms. We charge for our time and expertise by providing the best advice and service possible.


Q. What accounting software do you recommend?
A. For a small business, we recommend QuickBooks. It is relatively easy to learn, and is priced competitively.


Q. Do you offer electronic filing services?
A. Yes we do. We can electronically file your federal and State of Florida tax returns. If you have a refund due, this is the fastest way to get it.
